Tavio is the system your team uses to take the order, send food to the kitchen, and see the money at the end of the night.

A sit-down restaurant, a café, and a bar do not use it the same way. This page says what each one actually does, and what you do not get on the cheaper plan.

Each person has a code

Sales and tips stay on that person, so the end of the night is not one shared login. The owner can look at the same orders from a browser on a phone.

Your tablets, or ours

Use phones and tablets you already have. Or lease Tavio’s kit and own it after 24 months.

Printers on the same network

Printers need to be on the same Wi-Fi or network as the tablets.

Restaurant

A sit-down restaurant

The waiter opens a table on the tablet, adds the food, and can move those guests to another table. If they step outside, the order can be set aside and opened again when they come back.

A bill can be left open to pay later, a meal can be given free, and a tip stays on that bill. The tablet asks for a reason on a free meal or an unpaid bill.

Kitchen screen

  • On Growth (R1,699 a month) and Enterprise (R1,999).
  • Shows what was sent, what they are making, and what is ready.
  • Mark an item done, pause one item, or clear the whole order.
  • Drinks do not show on that screen. A paper slip can still print.

Recipes and the fridge

  • A recipe can take ingredients off stock. A burger is the bun, the patty, and the sauce.
  • Counting what is left in the fridge is on Growth and Enterprise.

On Starter

Starter (R799) is orders, tips, and a simple product list, for up to 5 staff and 1 device. No kitchen screen. No recipes.

Café

A café

Most cafés do not need table numbers. One tablet at the counter is enough: take the coffee, change the milk or leave out the sugar, put a name on it, and serve the next person.

The office is a normal browser. Starter fits a small team on one device, using a tablet or phone you already own.

A screen in the shop

  • A separate screen in the shop, set up by Tavio. Eat in or takeaway, then they pay a person at the counter.
  • That screen does not take the card or the cash. Enterprise only, not Starter or Growth.

Order for collection

Or they order for collection on your own web page, once you have switched that page on. They pay by card. Tavio does not store the card number.

Online ordering

Bar

A bar

A bill can stay open while people keep adding drinks. You can take part of it in cash and the rest on card. The tip stays with the person who rang those drinks, which matters when more than one person worked the bar.

The bottle

  • On Growth and Enterprise, a shot comes off the bottle it was poured from.
  • You can count the bottles and see the gap between sales and what is actually there.
  • A drink that was never put on the tablet does not show up. A cocktail’s cost comes from what you paid for the bottle and how much the recipe uses.

Screen and connection

  • Starter only keeps a list of the drinks you sell. It does not track the bottle.
  • Drinks do not go to the kitchen screen. Food from the same place can.
  • If the internet drops, only Enterprise keeps taking orders and sends them through when the connection is back.

A hardware lease, if you want Tavio’s tablets and printers, is an extra R500, R800, or R1,200 a month, and you own that kit after 24 months. You do not have to lease anything. Your menu is typed into Tavio. We do not copy it across from another system for you. The full comparison is on pricing.
